Andy Slaney, Founder of Remit Zero®, is making headway in the fight against climate change with their innovative product, cylo®. This game-changing solution aims to replace traditional gas and oil-fired boilers with an affordable, emissions-free, electric alternative. With support from SETsquared Exeter, Remit Zero® has secured investment, grant funding, and formed valuable connections, helping them to accelerate their business growth.
Imagine a world where domestic heating systems no longer emit harmful carbon dioxide into the atmosphere but instead run purely on clean and affordable electricity. Remit Zero and their game-changing product, cylo®, are making this vision a reality.
With gas boilers being a major contributor to annual CO2 emissions, Remit Zero® saw an opportunity to make a difference. Their emission-free replacement for domestic gas and oil-fired boilers is not only environmentally friendly but also easy to run and maintain.
In late 2022, Remit Zero® proudly launched their product in response to a requirement from the Ministry of Defence and social housing providers, with the first installations taking place in April 2023.
After being introduced to SETsquared through Exeter Science Park, Andy Slaney, the Founder of Remit Zero®, seized the opportunity to participate in the Scale-Up Programme. This initiative offers support services for innovative businesses looking to grow, ranging from collaborative R&D funding to private investment.
The exceptional potential of Remit Zero® has not gone unnoticed, as evidenced by the grant funding of £266,000 secured from the Devon County Council Green Innovation Fund and the East Devon District Council Innovation and Resilience Fund.
Andy said: “Remit Zero is so grateful for this support which has enabled us to continue to create well-paid jobs in the green economy and bolster economic growth in Devon.” Since being a SETsquared Exeter member, Remit Zero® has also had assistance from their Entrepreneur in Residence, Andrew Southall, who provides guidance and advice on business growth. They have also been introduced to commercial partners, one of whom is now on the board of directors and is a shareholder.
“The connections made through SETsquared Exeter have been invaluable, opening doors and paving the way for future success.”
Now based at Exeter Science Park, Remit Zero® has employed a number of undergraduate interns and first and second degree graduates from the University of Exeter. They are also now supported by their first Level 4 Exeter College Apprentice.
